The audiences are sympathetic for Gatsby who celebrates all luxurious parties, and spends most of his life for loving Daisy and sacrificing for his love, and the loneliness is all he receives from that. Both versions of the Great Gatsby give one valuable life lessons showing that money cant buy love and real friendship as the American Dream is eventually unattainable.
